This is exemplified by The Ritz-Carlton Doha which stands resplendently beside the West Bay Lagoon. The manicured grounds lead to the pool area and lagoon beyond. Rustic gazebos and inviting white sun loungers are scattered around the curvaceous pool which itself mimics the curves of the lagoon beyond.
It was with a sense of great excitement and anticipation that I arrived at the resort eager to be tempted by all manner of gastronomic delicacies and the very finest in Spa facilities. The hotel’s vast array of dining venues and bars include cuisine from Arabia, France and The USA in the form of their modern steakhouse, STK.
As I was led to my suite the décor throughout the public areas and lounges showcased traditional European opulence, blended with Arabic features and patterns. Fabrics were luxuriant, and lighting features truly dazzling, including the largest chandelier in the Middle East! Each space exudes luxury. As I entered The Amiri Suite I wasn’t sure which wowed me more…the stunning wrap around view from the living space or the sophistication of the décor and carefully selected furnishings. The suite was beautifully designed and appointed with high-end facilities and services. The piece de resistance was the personalised display of cupcakes studded with images of me from my social media account. Attention-to-detail simply doesn’t cover it. This is service at a level you will only experience with Ritz-Carlton.
The Spa and fitness area meets the needs of every manner of guest. A bank of treadmills, cardio machines, squash courts and weights room will ensure you can burn off anything you devour in the fabulous inhouse eateries. For those hoping for a sense of calm and tranquillity then The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Doha treatment areas will fulfil this. The facilities are geared around providing guests with the opportunity to detox, refresh their body and mind , rejuvenate the skin and most importantly centre oneself, achieving Zen. I was treated to the 60 minute deep tissue massage which is designed to relieve tension and promote blood flow. The therapists also recommend this treatment for those recovering from sporting injuries. I feel it’s vitally important to point out the fact that this type of massage is also incredibly relaxing because of the techniques employed to ‘knead’ out any knots and tense spots.
There is one thing I have discovered and that is that the French know exactly how to create the most delicious and delicate morsels and to create an ambience and level of service which transforms a meal into a dining experience. Sel and Miel has Chef Alain Regnault at the helm. The brasserie combines chic French elegance with fleur-de-lis and filigree patterns with uber modern lighting features and polka-dot upholstering. As if sensing our desire to start our culinary journey immediately we were served a warm bread basket with inventive accompaniments such as honey and truffle oil. My two companions and I opted for French classics to begin. The Foie Gras, Escargot and their signature Seared Tuna Salade were presented elegantly. The blue and white antique style crockery gave the feeling of being in the Cote D’Azur. Each flavour element of the dish could be identified with one not overpowering the other. My mussels were served traditional style in a quirky enamel pot, whilst the Lamb Cutlets served perfectly pink in a copper saucepan melted like butter on the tongue. The crispy Duck Leg Confit was both tender and succulent. There are few desserts which typify French cuisine more effectively than crème brulee and as I shattered the toasted sugar topping and delved into the cream below I knew that this would be like no other I had tasted. Once again the focus on a personalised experience and unadulterated luxury was evident when I was gifted a bouquet of flowers in lieu of my impending nuptials, Himalayan Sea Salt and their signature truffle oil and honey. #RCMemories indeed.
After enjoying the most peaceful sleep on the most incredible mattress I immersed myself in the voluptuously lavish standalone bath adorned with bubbles as I freshened up with their Hermès toiletries before I ventured into the Exclusive Club Lounge – the ultimate way to start the day. I was able to opt for soya milk in my cappuccino and devour a freshly prepared cheese omelette. I could get used to this.
