MILLENNIUM LIVING

MILLENIUM PLAZA DOHA IS ONE OF THE CITY’S NEWER HOTELS AND ITS WORKING FAST TO MAKE ITSELF KNOWN AND BUILD ITS REPUTATION. IT WAS ONLY RIGHT THAT WE WENT ALONG TO SEE WHAT THE 5-STAR PROPERTY HAS TO OFFER. FACT’S CRAIG FERRIMAN CHECKS IN…

Millennium Plaza Doha opened in April 2017. It’s designed for business customers with vast, brand new conference facilities and large dining spaces ideal for groups. It’s also an affordably-priced, modern hotel that is great for transit clients passing through Doha on a quick stopover or those visiting the Qatari caoital for a short break. Close by, the impressive Museum of Modern Art is a cultural goldmine and within walking distance are many luxury boutiques, electronics retailers, jewellers, global shopping outlets and every type of eating establishment you could ask for. There is also the historical charm of Souq Waqif, Doha’s vibrant market where many treasures can be found, and just ten minutes away lies the Museum of Islamic Art, all of which make this a great choice for leisure travellers too.

INSIDE THE ROOMS

The whole hotel is particularly modern and fresh. It looks, smells and feels fresh from the moment you walk into its bright and airy lobby with an impressive, curving glass staircase. White, creams and beige are the general colour pattern which keeps the bright, contemporary feel in the bedrooms. I stayed in a Club Room with a great city view and ample space and storage.

The Club Room is designed to inspire creativity with its elegant colour palette and range of luxury benefits. My bathroom was entirely surrounded in glass but there is a modesty curtain if you are not staying in the room alone! The glass just makes the space feel bigger and less closed in and it’s a really neat idea. Staying in the Club Room gives you complimentary access to the Club Lounge where you can relax and re-energise with complimentary breakfast, snacks, and all-day beverages. Room service that we ordered was speedy and came with a smile.

DINING CHOICES

Most of the guests eat in Circle which is located on the second floor with clear views over the C Ring road across the city. Circle boasts an abundant array of both Arabic and international flavours in their grand buffet. There is also an a-la-carte menu too. The vibe is relaxed and guests can come and go.

Food changes on the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets so you’re unlikely to repeat any dishes during your stay, maximising the variety of the experience. You can quite literally watch the world go by in the comfortable lobby lounge. It’s a great place to wait for other guests, wait to meet a visitor to the hotel or just while away some down time with a good book and a coffee.

Slice which is just off from the lobby is a decent lunch spot too and you don’t have to go large there if time is not on your side. A simple but delicious sandwich can be rustled up there for those on the go – and it’s very filling! The delicious Asian inspired Toshi restaurant with its vibrant flavours and inventive dishes is also a favorite at the hotel.

AND RELAX…

I went down to the third floor where the spa and wellness facilities are located. There is an outdoor pool which I was not expecting. From the road, the hotel looks like a high-rise tower but does in fact have a small outdoor space with a pool and sun deck with loungers. I was able to top up the tan and take a quick dip in the middle of the day – it was a lovely surprise!

The spa was spacious and brand new too. Staff were experienced and professional. I had a 60-minute Swedish Massage and can confidently say that I did not feel like I was somewhere new but a spa that I’ve been to for years. My therapist worked wonders and I left feeling lighter! Each treatment room has its own shower too which is a great option for those opting for more privacy or other treatments such as scrubs. Thumbs up!

With a perfect location, all the mod-cons you could want, plus excellent service and high levels of comfort, Millennium Plaza Doha is a hotel that is ready to make its mark!
