TOGETHER, LEVEL UP IN STYLE!

Both the Mate 40 Pro and MateBook X are exceptional devices that form part of Huawei’s outstanding new interconnected ecosystem.

Huawei is a brand going from strength to strength. Not only is it constantly developing and enhancing its products, but it’s also continuously working on an integrated ecosystem in which all Huawei devices are seamlessly interlinked. This offers a level of connectivity, productivity, and practicality never experienced by Huawei enthusiasts – until now.

In previous months, we’ve become acquainted with the Huawei FreeBuds Pro as well as the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro, both of which we found to be truly exceptional offerings. These devices, along with the two we are reviewing this month – the Mate 40 Pro and the MateBook X – make up the aforementioned interconnected ecosystem known as Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).

The Mate 40 Pro

The new Mate 40 Pro is the premium flagship device released by Huawei and is already receiving rave reviews by users across the globe. And after spending a few days using one of these smartphones, it’s easy to understand why. Its unique style is emphasised by a symmetrical design and high-end hardware materials. Sporting a glass front and back, along with a metal frame and novel Space Ring design, this aesthetically pleasing device is available in five different finishes – Mystic Silver being our favourite.

Featuring a maximum screen-to-body ration, the Mate 40 Pro offers an immersive edge-to-edge, 88-degree Horizon OLED display that produces 16.7 million colours and has a 90 Hz refresh rate. This – along with a resolution of 2640 x 1200 pixels – ensures that every clip, movie, or game you play on the device is clear, super-fast, smooth, and responsive. The cooling system is very effective and, even after playing games for a considerable length of time, the device remains cool. With such a classy piece of technology, it’s good to know it’s also splash, water, and dust resistant.

Technically speaking, the Mate 40 Pro is equipped with the Huawei Kirin 9000 5G chipset, packing more than 15 billion transistors. It uses the EMUI 11 operating system and provides 8GB of RAM plus 256 ROM. Additionally, it’s fitted with superb processing capabilities whilst its dual speakers ensure a crystalclear audio experience. It also boasts an impressive battery life. After relentlessly using the device for an entire day, it was still going strong.

Huawei has partnered with Leica to provide the best camera experience possible for this latest smartphone. There have been breakthrough upgrades to the ultra-wide angle lens, highdefinition camera, and telephoto camera. The phone is also equipped with Dual Cine Cameras and Dual Ultra-Wide Cameras to capture stunning videos and images. With loads of other performance and safety features, the Mate 40 Pro is definitely one of the best smartphones on the market circa now. Another great achievement by the Huawei brand.

The MateBook X

The second device we were lucky enough to get our hands was the new MateBook X. This stylish laptop is the lightest and thinnest laptop created by Huawei to date so, naturally, we only have good things to say. Despite being only 13.6mm in thickness and weighing in at just 1kg, this elegant device has been built for power and performance. Boasting a 3K Infinite FullView Display with borderless design, this laptop offers a 90 per cent screen-to body ratio and is ideal for whatever you are undertaking, whether that be content creation or media entertainment.

The display is also multitouch-enabled with gesture support. An example of this is the Finger Gesture Screenshot function, which allows users to take a screenshot simply by swiping downwards on the screen with their fingers. The MateBook X is the first Huawei device to feature a clickpad with Huawei FreeTouch, allowing for a more expansive space for navigation and creative expression. The new full-size keyboard features scissor switches, making typing easier, as well as keyboard lighting for late night use.

Time to get technical. The MateBook X features a 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 processor and up to 16GB of RAM. It also supports Wi-Fi 6, ensuring that your internet connection is always fast and stable. Additionally, it’s important to note that the security features of this device ensure that your laptop stays protected, whilst the recessed camera only pops out when needed. Translation: no potential hackers can spy on you.

The new MateBook X delivers an exceptional audio experience, allowing you to enjoy your very own miniature cinema whenever and wherever you choose. With a powerful quad-speaker system and split-frequency set-up delivering clear 3D audio directly from under the keyboard, this sound system synergises with advanced audio algorithms to virtualise sound.

AI Seamless Life

For a seamless experience and multitasking, the MateBook X features Multi-Screen Collaboration, which links your smartphone to your laptop’s screen. Now you can share files simply by dragging and dropping from one device to the other. You can also use the laptop’s peripherals, such as its keyboard and mouse, to accomplish tasks on your phone.
